Thousand,“ visited Los Angeles, Jesse L. Lasky, vice-president

in charge of productions of the Famous Players-Lasky

Corporation, took him on a tour of the various studios. Here

they are with Charley Chaplin.

      I FIRST met Charlie Chaplin quite unexpectedly at Rob

Wagner‘s house.“ (...)

      „I was getting ready to go when Rob Wagner said: ,You

ought to interview Charlie.‘

      I looked at him.“ (...) „He smiled and pretended to think

it a capital idea. However, I had half a notion that

he really loathed the thought.

      ,I‘m an awful chump at being interviewed,‘ he said. ,I can

talk a bit when it‘s all informal like this, but when anyone

starts an interview I lose my head, and choke up, and all that

sort of thing.‘

      And that is exactly what he did do when I met him again

a few days later out at his new Hollywood studio, which

is now being constructed.“ (...)
