& Chaplin

That Charlie Chaplin is one of the funniest actors on the

screen is a fact readily accepted and agreed upon

by all, but that „The Cure,“ which is now being shown at the

Garrick, is his best piece of work was realized

yesterday when the picture was given its initial presentation.

The majority of the scenes are laid in a health

resort, where Chaplin is afforded ample opportunity to crowd

action and humor into every situation. Aided by Edna

Purviance, Chaplin „puts over“ many new and novel stunts,

all of which register numerous guffaws.

Crowded houses viewed „The Cure“ yesterday

and if this is to be taken as an omen, the Garrick

box office records of the past are due to be shattered.

„The Cure“ is a genuinely funny film and to add

to this the fact that Chaplin is working at his best. Garrick patrons

are assured of a joy generating treat this week.

& Los Angeles House Gets Big Returns onThe Cure“

The late Chaplin release, „The Cure,“ is the

featured part of the week‘s program at the Garrick theatre,

Los Angeles, and the house is playing to the greatest

business it has had for months. An added attraction is the

comedy drama, „The Man Who Took a Chance,“

with Franklyn Farnum and ,Brownie‘ Vernon. Manager H. P.

Caulfield of the Garrick has installed a very attractive

lobby display which includes reproduction of a setting used

in the picture with automatic figures.
