& GEN. VON DER MARWITZ
General von Marwitz entered Brussels at the head of the
German troops on the exact day the Kaiser had planned
to enter Paris. The resistance of the Belgians has upset the German
plans of invasion and the scheme of striking a mortal blow
at France while Russia was still in process of mobilization has
failed. The Allies have purposely let the Germans take
Brussels, which is unfortified and undefendable. General von
Marwitz now faces the enormous forces of the British
and the French and is menaced on his flank by the Belgians,
who have retreated into Antwerp. A great battle will
soon be fought and its outcome is anxiously watched by the
entire world.
