Editorial content. „Chaplin signs with Mutual

      President John R. Freuler Contracts to Pay the Comedian

      a Total of $670,000 for One Year´s Work.

      CHARLES CHAPLIN, not yet twenty-seven years old,

on Saturday, Feb. 26, signed an agreement to play

for one year in pictures to be released on the Mutual program.“ (...)

      „Charles Chaplin was ambitious to have his own

company.“ (...)

      „I have felt for a long time that this would be my big

year and this contract gives me my opportunity.

There is inspiration in it. I am like an author with a big

publisher to give him circulation.“ (...)


Redaktioneller Inhalt. „Chaplin gibt Mutual Zuschlag.

Präsident John R. Freuler unterschreibt dem Comedian für die

Arbeit eines Jahres die Summe von 670 000 $ zu bezahlen.“

      Unter anderem sagt Mutual  Präsident Freuler den Satz:

„Charles Chaplin war erpicht drauf seine eigene Company zu haben.“

      „Es bedeutet, dass ich frei bin so lustig

zu sein wie ich kann, das beste Werk zu schaffen, das in mir liegt

und meine Energien darauf zu verwenden, was die Leute

wollen“, sagte Mr. Chaplin kurz nachdem er ein Mutual Player

geworden war.

      „Ich habe seit langer Zeit gespürt, dass dies mein grosses

Jahr werden würde und dieser Vertrag gibt mir dazu die

Gelegenheit. Da liegt Inspiration drin. Ich bin wie ein Autor mit

einem grossen Verleger, der für seine Verbreitung sorgt.“
