Editorial content. „Charles Chaplin Is On Way
to California for Mutual
Famous Comedian with the Wonderful Pedal Extremities
Is Accompanied by His Brother Sdyney,
And Makes a First Class ,Chaplin Exit‘ from New York
CHARLES CHAPLIN is on his way to California.
The Mutual‘s comedian left Thursday on the Twentieth Century
for Chicago, where he proposed to spend a few days
before proceeding to Los Angeles.
Chaplin was accompanied by his brother Sydney and
Henry P. Caulfield, who takes general charge of the
studios being prepared for Chaplin in Los Angeles. Chaplin‘s
departure was not attended by any ceremony,
but he made a first-class ,Chaplin exit‘ from New York.
The other members of the party were waiting
in the Grand Central station and train time was at hand, while
Chaplin lingered with his farewells to Broadway
which began with a call at the office of President John R. Freuler
of the Mutual Film Corporation and continued
uptown to the Plaza.
The Century was on the dot of departure when Chaplin
dashed trough station concourse at top speed,
plunged and skidded down the train shed and flipped over
the rail on the observation coach, the story goes.“
