& Chaplin in „The Vagabond.“

Mr. Chaplin is appearing again numerously in his latest

offering, „The Vagabond.“ He plays his violin left

handedly and does many of his old tricks. The laughter aroused

was spasmodic, rather than sweeping. To himself is

given credit for writing and directing the picture, which might

have been improved with the elimination of certain

vulgarities in connection with the fair Purviance‘s toilette.

Mr. Chaplin himself attains some pretty pathos

that is affecting and increasing his reputation as an actor of parts,

but as a comedian he falls rather slack.

„The Vagabond,“ about July 10, will be Mr. Charles Chaplin‘s

beautifully.
