Charlie Chaplin, world famous comedian, comes
to the Apollo again tomorrow in his latest screaming farce
success, „A Woman.“

comedy, „A Woman,“ returns to the Apollo tomorrow. This
comedy is shown exactly on its release date and
will be offered for the first time in the United States at the
Apollo. This new comedy is the best work Mr. Chaplin
has ever turned out and contains many new and original stunts
by the king of all comedians. It will be shown
during the entire week and be shown on Sunday, Monday
and Tuesday with the famous Metro feature in five
reels, „Her Own Way.“ (...)

„The Woman,“ said by many to be the greatest Chaplin
comedy, opened a two-day engagement at the
Melbourne this morning. Produced by Essanay in two parts
with an all star comedy cast it is one continuous
scream from beginning to end.

Zu Weihnachten bringt das Melbourne
„The Woman“ mit Charles Chaplin, eine Wiederholung,
auch wenn der Titel jener von David Belascos
Dramenverfilmung mit Lois Meredith und Theodore
Roberts ist. in einer Anzeige in Moving Picture
World vom 17. July 1915 war auch Essanay selbst der
Verwechslung aufgesessen. Angezeigt worden
war in Großbuchstaben „The Woman“ statt „ A Woman“.
In Tacoma war „ A Woman“ im Juli bereits im
Apollo gezeigt worden. Gleichwohl ist im Dezember
die redaktionelle Kurzmeldung „Neue Chaplin
Film Comedy“ überschrieben. „,The Woman‘, von vielen
als die größte Chaplin Comedy bezeichnet,
begann heute Morgen eine zweitägige Laufzeit im Melbourne.
Von Essanay mit einer All Star Comedy Besetzung
in zwei Teilen produziert ist der Film ein ununterbrochener
Brüller von Anfang bis zum Schluss.“ Beim
Spielfilmdrama im Beiprogramm handelt es sich um
„The Tides of Retribution“, einen Dreiakter
von Biograph, der „eine der seltsamsten, je verfilmten
Geschichten“ erzählt.
