& SEATTLE HAS NEAR CHARLIE CHAPLIN ALL HER OWN

      By Freddie Film

If you are an admirer of Charlie Chaplin and

haven‘t seen the nut that mimics him in front

of the Class A theatre, you are missing something.

For he‘s Charlie Chaplin over again, from

the top of his dented derby down to his heelless shoes.

Yesterday I stood in a crowd of nearly a hundred

people and watched him go through all the antics that

Chaplin uses, and even as familiar as I am

with Chaplin‘s  stunts, I couldn‘t find any flaws.

„Why, Harry, there he is now!“ I heard

a woman remark to her husband as they left the theatre

and saw him cutting up in front of the crowd.

Later on I collared him in the foyer of the Class A

and found out that he was Louie Post

Mueller and lived with his father at 1019 Pike st.

„Have you been in Seattle long?“

I asked.

„As long as I can remember. I was born here 21 years

ago and have been here ever since,“ he replied.

„How do you come to be in this game?“ was my next.

„Well, you see, it was this way. I was on my way

to a masquerade ball at Redding‘s hall, the other night, in this

garb, and Manager Smythe grabbed me on the

street and said he wanted to see me – and so here I am.

„I thought as long as a man wanted to part

with real money to have me play the nut in front of his

theatre – well!! money is not to be sneezed

at nowadays in any form.“

With that he went skating out through the exit on one

foot, and from the titters outside

I knew that he was back at work again.

Louis Mueller is about the same size as Chaplin and looks

enough like him to be his twin brother.

& The management of the Colonial announces, besides the

regular program this week, an extra added attraction

of Charles Chaplin, tagged „Getting Acquainted.“ It is beyond

criticism as a laugh producer, and the three crazy

„squirrel delights,“ respectively Mabel Normand, Chaplin and

Ambrose, could pull a laugh out of a graveyard.

It is worth your time alone to see Charlie go skidding around

the corners on one foot, let alone the crazy antics

of the other two. The film had the audience in an uproar

at every performance yesterday.

„Getting Acquainted“ is a late, „Caught in the Rain“ an early

      Keystone comedy.

& The Charles Chaplin Essanay comedy company left Chicago

for Niles, Cal., last Thursday.

While in Chicago a two reel special picture was produced.

It was at first planned to have the comedian work in the

Chicago studio, but on account of the lack of available exterior

locations and the climatic conditions, it was thought best

to return to the West.

Ben Turpin and Leo White, who have been

in the Chicago company for some time,

were among the players who left with Chaplin.
