GARDINER

      Once Known for

      Dramatic Work (...)

Reginald Gardiner is the latest to finish out this course.

In „The Great Dictator,“ Charlie Chaplin‘s latest

comedy, Mr. Gardiner has a dramatic role, and, though it is not

common knowledge, Mr. G. started as a dramatic actor.

His celebrated career as a comedian has been merely an arc

in the circle.

& For „The Great Dictator“ –

Among the distinguished visitors on hand when Charles

Chaplin‘s „The Great Dictator“ was given its western

premiere November 14 were Gov. Herbert Lehman (center)

of New York and Mrs. Lehman. The man with the

mustache at left is Jerry Colonna, screen-radio comedian,

who functioned as master of ceremonies. The affair,

attended by scores of Hollywood notables, was held at the

Carthay Circle Theatre, where the film now is in a

two-a-day run.
