„Another screaming comedy”

Funniest comedian of film world
makes new record; he´s appearing
at three Tacoma theatres at once
Charles Chaplin, declared by exhibitors and audiences to be
the funniest comedian in motion pictures, is making
the entire United States laugh with his newest comedies.
In Tacoma, for an example, Chaplin is attracting
audiences to three theatres today, and the business at those
theatres is enhanced tremendously, the managers
say, through the comedian‘s presence on the films.
Chaplin is starring at the Colonial with Marie Dressler
and Mabel Normand in the funniest film ever brought
here, Tillie´s Punctured Romance. At the Melbourne, Chaplin
and Miss Normand are seen in The Property Man,
another screaming comedy. At the Pantages theater the
movie this week has been included as a regular act
of the bill, because Chaplin has the star part. It is a two-part
film, Dough and Dynamite.
All the films shown in Tacoma this week are from the
Keystone company. Movie patrons will be interested
to know that Chaplin last week signed a contract with the
Essanay company at Chicago and is already
at work on some brand new Essanay comedies.“
