„Rough and tumble“

Editorial content. „Fred Karno‘s London company,

presenting A Night in an English Music Hall, returns to the

Empress as headliners on the new bill, which, by the

way, is a shade more entertaining than the best the Empress

has had to offer during the thirty-odd weeks of its history.“

„A different version of the same sketch offered by Karno‘s

comedians on their former appearance here is given,

though the same characters, with a few additions to the cast,

remain. It is a rough and tumble, ludicrous and convulsing

affair from start to finish, and if it does not make all of the audience laugh all the time it is because some of the audience can‘t

laugh for seeing.“

Empress, 53 South Main Street, Salt Lake City,

A Night in an English Music Hall, May 27, 1912.
