„Uproariously funny“

Editorial content. „At the Empress this week, although it lacks

that clear American humor, it is uproariously funny, and the continual

rough house raised by the actors is a laughable commotion.

Fred Carno and the London comedian are the name they go under,

and are fresh from the other side of the water.

Hobson and Deland have a neat little sketch entitled

A Business Proposal. Both are clever, and Miss Hobson shows

just how well a pretty woman can look in gowns to match.

Elsie Wales and Mabelle Meridith have the melody act down

to a finish, and are delightful in their singing of famous and

popular airs. To complete a good bill, there is dancing and clever acrobate stunts coupled with a  batch of good moving pictures.“

Empress, NE corner of Pacific and South 9th, Tacoma,

      A Night in a London Club, October 16, 1911.

      Tacoma Times, June 24, 1913:

„Dean. B. Worley, for several years manager of the Empress

theater in Tacoma – at that time called the Grand theater –

has been appointed personal representative of John W. Considine,

one of the owners of the circuit. Worley has recently

managed the Empress theater in Los Angeles. His new post

is a most difficult one, and speaks highly for the worth

of the former Tacoman. Worley will be in Tacoma next month

for an extended visit.”
