Charlie Chaplin, motion picture comedian,
has been drafted, and expects his call
in June, it was announced at his studio yesterday.
Although he is an Englishman, Chaplin

khaki in a short time.

Carlyle Raleigh Robinson, director of publicity for the
Charlie Chaplin Studios, San Francisco, formerly
of Brooklyn, has left for Fort McDowell near San Francisco,
to undergo training in the artillery. Robinson, who
is the step-son of Richard K. Fox, was connected with The
Eagle five years ago, before leaving for California.

was born in Paris of English parents, twenty-eight years
ago. He attained his first popularity as a slap-stick
comedian in the vaudeville skit, A Night in an English Music
Hall. Chaplin‘s first appearance as a film comedian
was with Keystone. He then played for Essanay and Mutual
– one year for each company. He is now
under contract to do eight pictures a year for the First
National Exhibitors‘ Circuit, from which he will
derive an annual income of about one million dollars.“
