      Charlie Chaplin‘s new picture has been named

„Shoulder Arms,“ and several children have important parts

in the production.

& Charles Chaplin is „shooting“ again. In more lay

terms he is at work on another picture at his studio. No one

knows what he is making, as usual, but we do know

that Edna Purviance is there. Henry Bergman and Tom Wilson,

both well known laugh makers, are going in and out

night and morning, and a dozen youngsters ranging from 2 to 10

years old are also being used in many of the scenes.

& In „Shoulder Arms“ we worked for several days in a tank

half filled with water to simulate a trench. I had

to submerge about sixteen times before we got the right

effect; a ruined house „set“ collapsed before

its time, with me in it – and they had to repair both me and

the set before the picture could go on.

Editorial content. „Chaplin at Work on Second Comedy.

      Within the week of his return to Hollywood, following his

successful Liberty Loan tour, Charlie Chaplin surprised

everyone by dropping into his studio, hastily ordering several

sets to be built, after which he went into executive

session with Brother Syd.

      All the afternoon there was much hurrying to and fro

between Charlie‘s office and various departments,

and it was apparent to the most careful onlooker, that another

famous Chaplin comedy was in the brewing.

      By this time, the second picture of Charlie Chaplin‘s

$1,000,000 contract with the First National

Exhibitors‘ Circuit is under way. Its release is awaited

with interest.“
