„He strips the prisoners of their medals“
Editorial content. „Chaplin AS A SOLDIER
IN THE FILM AT STRAND
The Strand Theatre will present a double feature bill
headed by Charlie Chaplin in his latest comedy,
Shoulder Arms. Chaplin appears as a soldier in France,
where he learns a great deal about trench life
and fighting. He finds himself behind the enemy trenches
and is chased and captured, but he manages
to fool them all. Disguised as the Kaiser‘s chauffeur,
he performs the feat of driving the Kaiser,
Crown Prince and Von Hindenburg into the Allied territory,
where he strips the prisoners of their medals and
bestows them on his American comrades. The second feature
is a Western drama entitled Shooting Mad, in which
Gilbert Anderson enacts the role of Broncho Bill. The Aliied
War Review and the Topical Review will also
be shown. The soloists will be Jane Holder and Alys Michot.“
Strand Theatre, Broadway & 47th Street, New York.
Shoulder Arms has a pre-release presentation at the Strand
Theatre, starting Sunday, October 20, 1918,
Chaplin‘s film is released by First National October 27, 1918.
