„Never been to better advantage“
Editorial content. „Manager Edel of the Strand will present
a double feature bill headed by the inimitable Charlie Chaplin, who
will be seen in his latest comedy, entitled Shoulder Arms.
The popular star has never been to better advantage than
in this new play. The second feature is a Western drama,
entitled Shooting Mad, in which William L. Sherry presents Gilbert
Anderson as Broncho Bill, a character he has made famous
wherever motion pictures have been presented.
The Strand Topical Review, edited by Mr. Edel, showing
the latest news pictures of interest photographed in this
country and abroad, conclude the film part of the entertainment.
The musical programme is headed by Jane Holder, the
member of the Strand‘s staff of ushers who was discovered
by Manager Edel and created a sensation with her rendition
of Celeste Aida last week. Miss Holder will be heard
in an operatic aria. Mlle. Alys Nichol (Alys Michot), the popular coloratura soprano, will sing Care Nome from Rigoletto.“
Strand Theatre, Broadway & 47th Street, New York.
Shoulder Arms has a pre-release presentation at the Strand
Theatre, starting Sunday, October 20, 1918,
Chaplin‘s film is released by First National October 27, 1918.
