and two Orioles for passenger carrying purposes between
Los Angeles and the Catalina Islands.

Atlantic City, May 6. – An automobile and a flying machine
collided on the aviation field here and the motorcar
came off second best. The occupants of the airplane narrowly
escaped serious injury if not death. They were Sidney
Chaplin, John P. Davis, of Buffalo, and Dr. E. L. Allen. The
latter, who was driving the machine, has a record
of 2800 hours in the air.“ (...)
