„How closely related indeed are comedy and tragedy“

Editorial content. „Charlie Chaplin, Annette Kellerman‘s

Bathing Suit, Bill Hart, Crane Wilbur‘s Spirits,

Alice Gentle Out of the Song World, Clothes, Silk,

Stockings – They‘re All at the Local Theaters.

      CHAPLIN AT T. & D. SEEN

      AS MASTER OF PATHOS

A new Charlie Chaplin came to town yesterday.

Audiences at the T. & D. had their introduction to Chaplin

the dramatic and tragedian.

The Kid is the child of the comedian‘s own imagination –

a tragi-comedy that revealed Chaplin to be the screen‘s

preeminent master of pathos; nor did his reputation as mimic,

pantomimist and grimacer suffer. The funmaker emerged

more secure than ever, showing how closely related indeed

are comedy and tragedy.“ (...)                                „W. D. H.“
