as far as feet are concerned, may now share with Lou
Teilegen the title of „The Gifted.“ Not only
have Mr. Chaplin‘s excessively agile and seedy shoes not
lost the power of kicking, they have learned
to roller skate, and to do it with amazing expertness.
In „The Rink,“ which the Arcadia, Palace,
Victoria and Regent showed yesterday, was unreeled one
of the funniest bits of nonsense which have come
from the Lone Star studios. The action begins in an atmosphere
of dough and deviltry and ends a la „The Count,“ with
Charles eluding the law on skates. The story is not especially
new, but the „business“ is frequently amusing. And
beautiful Edna Purviance is losing flesh. She is pretty and slim
enough now to form her own company. Business
of praying that she won‘t.

Die Meldung zu Charles Chaplin in „The Rink“
lautet: „Charles Chaplin, stets beweglich, soweit´s um Füsse
geht, kann den Titel ,Der Begabte´ nun mit Lou Tellegen
teilen. Nicht nur haben Mr. Chaplins exzessiv agile und
heruntergekommene Schuhe die Kraft des Tritts nicht verloren,
sie haben gelernt Rollschuh zu laufen und das mit
erstaunlicher Fachkunde. Mit The Rink, gestern im Arcadia,
Palace, Victoria und Regent gezeigt, wurde eins
der lustigsten Stücklein des Nonsens heruntergekurbelt,
das je aus den Lone Star Studios kam. Die Action
beginnt in einer Atmosphäre von Teig und Teufelei und
endet à la ,The Count‘ mit Charles, der sich dem
Gesetz auf Rollschuhen entzieht. Die Story ist nicht besonders
neu, aber das ,Business´ ist häufig amüsant. Und
Schönheit Edna Purviance verliert Rundungen. Sie ist jetzt
hübsch und schlank genug um ihre eigene Company
aufzumachen. Beten wir dafür, dass sie´s nicht tut.“

Zeitungsseite hervorgeht, wird Charles Chaplin
in „The Rink“ nicht nur im Arcadia, Palace, Victoria und Regent
gezeigt, sondern auch im Alhambra und Locust.
