& Charlie Chaplin Gets

      Good Lesson From War

      „Gas For The Foe.“

In „Easy Street“ Charles Spencer Chaplin‘s latest Mutual

comedy, the comedian has invented a brand new

piece of comedy business, to-wit: Gas treatment for heavy

villains. Eric Campbell, who weighs 321.5 pounds

  1. f.o. b. Los Angeles, is the victim of this latest and cutest

Chaplin prank. Quite incidentally Eric Campbell

proves up as a strong man by bending lampposts like a small

boy shaking a peach sapling. „Easy Street,“ the

comedy which sent Chaplin to a hospital, contains more

„rough house“ per linear foot than any previous

Chaplin comedy. An unusual fact is the escape alive

of practically the whole cast.

& CHARLIE LOOSENS UP

Charlie has subscribed for $150,000 worth of British

war bonds. The English press gave the Chaplin

subscription considerable space when the news became

known in London.
