IT is said one reason Americans were slow in taking
Adolf Hitler seriously was that he had a mustache
like Charlie Chaplin‘s. By now, however, Hitler no longer
is funny. No one is more aware of that fact than
Charles Spencer Chaplin, whose hard-hitting satire, The
Great Dictator, is at last ready for the screen after
long months of work behind locked doors. The film is the first
in which Chaplin‘s voice is heard, and the public‘s
reaction to the satire is Hollywood‘s biggest question mark
at the moment. Highlights from The Great Dictator
