Tuesday night of „The Great Dictator,“ Charles Chaplin

was at home to the press Sunday afternoon in his suite in the

Waldorf Astoria, with gratifying results in Monday‘s

papers. Left is Maurice Silverstone, U. A. chief executive,

and, in the background, Lynn Farnol, publicity

and advertising head.

this week the sales campaign for „The Great Dictator,“ new

Charles Chaplin comedy, will be set.

„Where Gone With the Wind has been playing“

      With Charles Chaplin‘s The Great Dictator all completed and

set for release within a few weeks, United Artists is still

seeking a house for the national preem, which will be in New

      „Also mentioned has been the Astor, where Gone With the

Wind has been playing since last December, although

Metro is understood to have another picture in mind to replace

      „Program was worked out in Hollywood last week

in confab with Chaplin, Alf Reeves, his g. m.;

Murray Silverstone. UA chief, and Harry Gold and Jack

Schlaifer, UA sales-managers. Gold came back

to New York Monday (9) to attempt to settle the house

question, while Schlaifer took the same problem

in Chicago. Silverstone is due in the end of the week.“ (...)

      The Great Dictator world premiere is in New York Oct. 15, 1940

      at the Capitol and Astor Theatres.
