back when Charlie Chaplin had had his first spat with Paulette –

right before he started The Great Dictator. Charlie was

lolling around Carmel, a little bit on the loose. He went to the

Little Theatre one night, saw Dorothy doing her stuff,

and the next thing Hollywood heard Chaplin had found a new

protégée. She was young and she was beautiful, and

to Hollywood that, coupled with Chaplin‘s well-known tastes,
