      JUNE !7 LIFE

Charlie Chaplin, funny man of the films, yesterday

sued Life, the picture magazine, for $1,000,000 and tied up

nearly half its June 17 issue.

The suit was filed in Federal Court, where Chaplin

contended Life was publishing a full-page picture

of him in the title ole of „The Dictator,“ a movie yet to be

released. Such action was unauthorized, Chaplin

said, and would destroy the value of the film.

Judge John C. Knox granted a temporary injunction

restraining publication of the forthcoming issue.

The order will require revision of 1,200,000 copies, but will

not affect 1,600,000 already distributed to dealers.
