& Alhambra
The Alhambra will not make its regular midweek
change on Thursday. Reason: Charles Chaplin
is there in the latest of his comedy hits, called Work. It‘s
the kind of fun that makes your sides ache like a double dose
of appendicitis. A bucket of plaster falls on the head of
Charley‘s boss. Charley tries to remove the sticky stuff from
boss with a brush. Instead of helping, Charley spreads
it on thicker. You just gotta laugh at it.

& Alhambra
Charles Chaplin continues to cut comical capers at the
Alhambra in his newest two-reel comedy, „Work,“
acknowledged to be the best of his long list of successful
comedies.
The man who said, „Every little movement has a meaning
all its own,“ surely must have seen Chaplin, for no truer
words, or more expressive ones, could be said of the little
comedian. Every movement counts with him and
counts for a laugh. With this two-part, 90 horse-power comedy
is a three-part Vitagraph drama, „The Way of the
Transgressor,“ featuring Leah Baird and Leo Delaney.

Alhambra
Chaplin‘s latest comedy, Work, a two-reel laugh
producer, brought joy to crowds which packed
the Alhambra to its capacity thruout Monday. Chaplin is here
for a week. None of his previous screen successes
touch this one.
„Work“ is a riot. Here is what it is all about, tho Chaplin‘s
inimitable humor cannot be put into words:
Chaplin is working as a paper hanger‘s assistant.
They get a job in a swell home, and the havoc
begins. They daub the rooms indiscriminately and nearly
wreck the place. At one point, there is a spill in which
Chaplin‘s boss gets his head in a bucket of paste, which sticks
to his head.
The story ends with the exploding of the kitchen
range. Chaplin is buried in the debris. He opens up the door
of the stove which has fallen over his head and
comes out smiling.
