No, it wasn‘t a slam to the fence nor anything like it.
Following the crack of the bat a puny little single
looped its way over the infield, just out of T. Cobb of Georgia,
and in scrampered the two runs. On this foundation
our Yanks began to build and the complete structure can be
sen in the box score, already widely circulated in the
public prints.
A little later on Mr. Baumann, who it seems
can do other things than imitate Charlie Chaplin (by the way, you
ought to get him doing that) negotiated a double play
that made the single-header crowd sit up and look around.
