sand dunes so plentiful on the coast of Holland.

& THE landing of the French and British expeditionary forces
at the Dardanelles has been carried out under extreme
difficulty. The troops have been sent ashore in small boats and
the artillery has been landed in the same manner, as none
of the big transports has been able to approach land. In one case
the British transport River Clyde was deliberately beached
in order to permit the immediate landing of 2,000 British troops.
The photograph shows one of the big 155 mm. guns of
the French artillery being taken ashore from a French warship.

of well informed persons asked me to decide
a contest for a nominal prize. Each had written on a slip
of paper the names of the six greatest Americans
of the present day in the order of their greatness. (...) The list
