H. C. Norfleet, Key theater, said: „,The Lady of the Lake,‘
a child‘s film, got $6,50 for sales of tickets to
children. If you want a film that will attract children, put on
Charlie Chaplin, Hank and Ham or Ford Sterling.
This morning when we opened with a Charlie Chaplin
film 20 children rushed in in just two minutes.‘
This elicited from Mrs. Gentry Waldo: „That‘s just
what we object to. Charlie Chaplin‘s vulgar, plain
vulgar. We want a better class of pictures for our children.“
