„Life and light“
Editorial content. „When the Sullivan-Considine booking
agents secured Fred Carno‘s London comedians for a return
engagement over their circuit in their eccentric comedy
offering A Night in an English Music Hall, they apparently made
no mistake in forecasting the reception the English fun-makers
would receive from Empress patrons.“
„The act is the headline feature of the bill that is running
at the Empress and certainly no other sketch-offering
of the season has provoked a greater riot of fun and eccentricity
than is developed during the half hour the London comedians
are out in front with their miniature music hall and with Charles
Chaplin playing the role of the ,Souse.‘ Chaplin is the life
and light of the sketch, though the big company numbers several
other clever and capable people.“
