With forty entries and a big crowd
of spectators thronging the course, the Vanderbilt Junior
cup race was run at Venice this afternoon.

Twelve Motor Cars of Less Than Seven Horsepower
and 30 Pushmobiles to Compete
Twelve tiny motor cars of less than seven horsepower
and thirty pushmobile entries will compete in the Venice Junior
Vanderbilt cup races at Venice Saturday afternoon.
The entry list closed last night.
Four trophy cups and prizes aggregating $150 are offered.
The power car races are attracting particular interest,
as this is the first race ever held in the west for cars of this type.
Barney Oldfield will start the first race promptly
at 1:30 o‘clock Saturday afternoon and Earl Cooper has agreed
to act as referee.
Venice is preparing to entertain a big crowd. The street
on which the race is to be held is one block east
of the Trolleyway. A grandstand has been erected at the start
and finish line.“
