IT is often necessary and kind rather to write letters that amount

to nothing than not to write at all.                              GOETHE

& Everything under the sun goes in threes. Rome had its three

triumvirates and all Gaul was divided into three parts.

One triumvirate at the convention consisted of H. F. Kennedy,

Broken Bow, Neb., left, C. E. Williams, Park

theatre, Omaha, center, and H. A. Larson, Oakland, Neb.

& Avoids Court-Martial.

Charlie Chaplin, had to be an expert danger dodger

in that picture „Shoulder Arms,“ or, he says,

he probably would have been court-martialed. His dangers

all lay on the friendly side of the trenches, however.

„Drove away the crowds still waiting in the street“

Editorial content. „Big Houses See Chaplin‘s

      ,Shoulder Arms‘

For the first time in the history of the Majestic, at Oakland,

Nebraska, it is said, H. A. Larson, owner and manager,

decided that an all-night run was necessary to accommodate

crowds clamoring to see Charlie Chaplin in Shoulder

Arms, when a heavy rain came up and made the innovation

unnecessary.

,I never saw such houses,‘ said Mr. Larsen, telling

about it. ,I had three packed houses during the

evening and still there were crowds waiting to get in. I didn‘t

know what to do. I knew I couldn‘t hold such an

important film over, and I knew I couldn‘t stretch the walls

of the Majestic. I consulted the operator and we

seemed to be need of it. It looked like we would have to show

all night. Just before midnight a rain came and drove

away the crowds still waiting in the street.‘“
