CHARLES CHAPLIN is suffering from an attack
of scenarioitis – whatever that is. (...)
As Chaplin writes his own scenarios, and conceives
all his own comedy situations, he does not wish
to receive manuscripts from anyone, even skilled writers.
According to the comedian he received no less
than fifty scripts after „Shoulder Arms“ was released
in which soldiers, trenches and guns played
an important part.
