Film Fun, New York, August 1919.

Chaplin Has Something To Ask of the World

CHARLES CHAPLIN is suffering from an attack

of scenarioitis – whatever that is. (...)

As Chaplin writes his own scenarios, and conceives

all his own comedy situations, he does not wish

to receive manuscripts from anyone, even skilled writers.

According to the comedian he received no less

than fifty scripts after „Shoulder Arms“ was released

in which soldiers, trenches and guns played

an important part.
