& DOUG BATTLES AS FIRE PERILS HOME
Los Angeles, Cal., Sept. 30 – Homes
of movie stars – Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford,
Charlie Chaplin and others in the Beverly Hills
district of Los Angeles – were in danger today from brush fires
burning nearby. Fairbanks, peeled to the waist, spent
four strenuous hours on the fire lines, coming out perspiring
and blackened with smoke and cinders.
