Decks for the Spring Drive – Plays Are Bought

and Stars Are Signed as Next Season‘s Films Get under Way.

THREE photoplays which rate at least one „super“

before their titles are headed for Broadway and early summer

release. Douglas Fairbanks‘ recently completed „Don Q“

said to be a sequel to his „Mark of Zorro,“ has been definitely

announced to open at the Globe Theater on the evening

of June 15. Charles Chaplin is now editing and putting the

finishing touches on his new comedy, „The Gold Rush,“

for which the comedian is said to be harboring a hankering

to rent the Hippodrome for the New York presentation.

„The Gold Rush,“ though no date has yet been announced,

will probably be unwound in these parts before June

has gone very far on her way. The third super-spectacle,

of course, is „Ben Hur,“ upon which various artisans

in the Metro-Goldwyn pay have been laboring these past

two years.
