      In New York and Chicago

      „THE GOLD RUSH,“ Charlie Chaplin‘s United Artists

release, has broken all records for New York City

and the world in its first week‘s business at the Mark Strand

Theatre, and also has broken all records of

seventeen years of the Orpheum Theatre, Chicago,

in its first week‘s run there.

& The Chaplin „Gold Rush“ at the Orpheum is on a verge of a slip.

Seven weeks for any picture in this town is a long run.

Last week it turned in the lowest figure but is still good for three

or four more weeks and possibly longer.

(...) Orpheum – „Gold Rush“ (U. A., 6th week). (776; 50–75).

With 14 hour play daily picture running along

grinding in fairly good grosses considering house

and length of run. Over $10,000.

Will at least put the Orpheum on the map

Editorial content. The Gold Rush, after falling off, regained

its second wind. Last week‘s receipts compare with

the gross established on its second week. There is no doubt

of pulling the feature out. Warner Brothers, who have

secured the lease on the house, are waiting for it to move,

so that they can exhibit their products. According

to the way the Chaplin film is being supported, it will be the

latter part of October or early November when the

new tenants will take possession. The long run of the picture

will at least put the Orpheum on the map.“ (...)
