& A Woman of Paris Scene

& This picture of Charlie Chaplin looks as though it had

been shot in a „Lunnon fog,“ but C. C. was so busy

rehearsing the presentation of „A Woman of Paris“ that the

cameraman had to „shoot“ him where he could, and

the light was, to use the quaint expression of the craft, „lousy.“

A vigorous, vital, imaginative picture

Editorial content. „A Woman of Paris

      (Chaplin – United Artists – 7600 Feet)

      (Reviewed by Laurence Reid)

We have long awaited Chaplin‘s production, the first

one conceived, written and directed by him in which he has not

appeared.“ (...)

„A vigorous, vital, imaginative picture – which appeals

to the intelligence – a picture which puts to rout the

standardization of the film as we recognize it.“ (...)

„Summery. A masterpiece of simplicity and naturalness.

Finely treated, perfectly acted. Always appeals to imagination.

Should revolutionize screen technique.“ (...)
