Editorial content. „Chaplin Will Finish Big Film Here;
Says Divorce Case is Due to Lawyers
ONE of the biggest picture deals yet staged in filmdom
will probably take place in Salt Lake as an outcome
of the big Charlie Chaplin divorce suit.
Mr. Chaplin acknowledged this morning that every effort
will be made to complete the picture within a short
time in order that it can be sold before the divorce suit
instituted against him by his wife, Mildred Harris
Chaplin takes place. A Salt Lake attorney will probably
be retained by Mr. Chaplin to represent his
interests here and here the redoubtable Charlie intends
to stay for some time out of reach of Los Angeles
process servers who are anxious to serve papers on him
which will prevent his selling his new film, The
Kid, until the divorce case is tried.“ (...)
„Actor Is Author.“ (...)
„It was a serious but charming Charlie, with no trace
of the world famous antics except a shrug or so
of the shoulder and the well known gesture of the arms,
who discussed the divorce proceedings today.
In genuine cavalier fashion he admitted much regret that
his private matrimonial affairs have been aired
in such a manner before the public.
,As far as a woman is concerned a gentleman can say
nothing, so therefore you must not expect me
to discuss my wife,‘ he declared. ,She is just a young girl
and I believe it is due to unscrupulous lawyers
who imagine the moving picture field offers good
pickings.‘“ (...)
