Editorial content. „Mechanical Figures in Chaplin Display
From Los Angeles comes the accompanying
picture of a ,live‘ lobby display, in which mechanical figures
attract passing crowds. Even the back drop of the
scene ,moves‘ and tells the story of the film as you watch
the figures go by. Charlie pursued by a ,cop,‘
with the pawnshop proprietor bringing up the rear, appears
first at the door on the right and moving across
the miniature ,stage‘ disappears through the door on the left.
Manager Gore of the Liberty theatre uses similar
displays on all Mutual-Chaplin features, with S. R. O. results.“
