& Piano Duets in Oregon Theatre
CLIFFORD L. CARNEY, without doubt one of the
cleverest organists and pianists in the Northwest,
has introduced a novelty at the National Theatre, Portland, Ore.
Assisted by Mr. Russell they play piano duets,
and on an organ picture also use a piano accompaniment.
Mr. Carney is both versatile and talented to an
amazing degree, and his new stunt at the National has
met with universal approval.
Mr. Carney has been in charge of the musical department of the new theatre since its opening. It has a twenty-piece orchestra.

& FROM 2 until 4 o‘clock the new pipe organ at the National
theatre will be dedicated today by some of Portland‘s
leading organists together with Clifford Carney, master organist
of the National. Those who will play the specially
arranged program with Mr. Carney are William Boone, First
Church of Christ Scientist; Mrs. Annette Stoddard,
Trinity Episcopal church; Frederick Goodrich, St. Mary‘s
cathedral; George D. Ingram, assistant organist
of the National. Another big event at the National today
is the return of Charles Chaplin in „His New Job,“
his newest comedy and his first release under the Essanay
banner. The picture will be completed with „Under
the Paint“ with Helen Gardner and „Barriers of Faith.“ Hazel Thorp,
the harpist, will be a feature throughout the week.

It‘s a Kimball Organ.
& New Organ Is Dedicated.
Two big events were on the tapis at the National
yesterday. One was the dedication of the new
pipe organ from 2 until 4 o‘clock in the afternoon and the other
was the first appearance of Charles Chaplin under the
Essanay banner. A delightful concert was played by Mrs. Annette
Stoddard, of Trinity Episcopal; William R. Boone, First
Church of Christ. Scientist; Frederick W. Goodrich, of St. Mary‘s
Cathedral, and Clifford Carney, master organist of the
National. The program was happily chosen to display all of the
qualifications of the new organ which proved equal
to the advance notices about it. „His New Job“ was the title
of the Chaplin comedy and had for its theme the
comedian‘s hunting a new job with the Essanay people, after
leaving the Keystone company. He gets his chance
by the leading man‘s nonappearance. Continual laughter
greeted the unwinding of the film, which is held
over for today and tomorrow.
