vollständig von Brandbomben zerstört worden ist,

haben die Eigentümer ein Schild angebracht: „Wenn Sie

glauben, dass dies schlimm ist, dann sollten Sie erst

einmal unsere Filiale in Berlin sehen!“ ... Ein anderes Schild,

an einem Kino, das von einer Bombe getroffen

wurde, aber weiter spielt: „Smash Hit! Now playing to crowded audiences! It‘s Great! It‘s Gigantic! It‘s Goering!“

      IT was worth waiting for that Chaplin film, The

Great Dictator (Prince of Wales, Gaumont, and Marble

Arch Pavilion, Monday), is an inspired work.

      It combines the primitive Charlie with bowler, outsize

boots and nosegay, with the 1940 Charlie who

can talk and make wisecracks. And the only flaw is the

politicians‘s address at the end.“ (...)
