Harry Myers almost stole the picture from the star.

      From left to right Harry Myers (an eccentric millionaire), Charles

      Chaplin (a tramp), Allan Garcia (the millionaire‘s butler).

& The end is in sight, believe it or not, of Charlie Chaplin‘s

picture, „City Lights.“ Charlie is filming the finishing

scenes and that means that Virginia Cherrill, who has been

working in the picture for, well over a year, will be on

the available list. The reason I mentioned this is because

I happen to know that Samuel Goldwyn is negotiating

with her for a part in Evelyn  Laye‘s picture „Lilli.“ Little Cherrill

has had the distinction of being a leading lady without

ever having made a picture. We hear rumbles from all sides,

too, that Charlie has put his best efforts into this picture

largely to prove his point that silent films are the only legitimate

entertainment on the screen,

„City Lights,“ Alan Garcia, who has been assisting Mr.

Chaplin, has accepted the position of Spanish dialectian on „The

Gay Caballero,“ directed by Alan Crosland at First National.
