Will Charlie Chaplin finish his new United Artists production
„The Circus“ in six months?
The comedy star declares he will. Joseph M. Schenck,
head of United Artists, thought it would take longer.
He baited Charlie a bit, until the actor cried, „I‘ll bet you
$5,000 I finish within that time.“
It was all done in fun, of course, but Schenck thinks
he really has Charlie worked up to a fine frenzy
in the matter – and there‘s a chance that the new picture
may really be made in the stipulated six months.

not the one to be called „The Clown.“ In this current
offering, which is less whimsical, it is said Chaplin officiates

managed to put the spell upon the male portion
