The Circus Poster

& Charlie Chaplin will have to hold up production on „The

Circus“ for several weeks, whether he wants to

or not. Charlie‘s leading lady, Merna Kennedy, is ill in San

Diego, Cal., with diphtheria. The actress and her

mother were on their way from Hollywood to San Diego for

a pleasure jaunt when Merna became ill. Miss

Kennedy is on the road to recovery now, but it will be several

weeks before she‘s allowed to do any long distance

traveling. And Charlie still intends to finish up his film at the

Cosmopolitan studio here.

Editorial content. „Merna Kennedy, leading lady for Charlie

Chaplin in The Circus, is recovering from a serious

throat infection. She plans to come East with her mother

and finish the scenes which were interrupted when

Charlie‘s wife sued him for divorce.“
