SCREEN appearances are pretty rare for Charlie Chaplin.
He‘s been long enough with The Circus to have
accomplished something extraordinary. Whether because
of his domestic trouble or other worries it seems that
the picture is not another masterpiece like Shoulder Arms.
True, it has its fun – oodles of it, and there is imagination
behind it. But taken in its entirety one cannot call it an inspired
