& „Circus“ Still Snaps Records
Charlie Chaplin‘s „The Circus“ is still breaking records
on Broadway, which is a habit any new Chaplin
picture seems to carry with it. Whether or not „The Circus“
is the popular comedian‘s best effort is a subject
that can always provoke an argument.
Be all that as it may, the doors of the Strand are being
opened at 10:30 o‘clock in the morning and there
is an extra midnight show at 11:30 p. m. and at these
as well as the regular shows crowds are being
turned away. Whether „The Circus“ is his best or not,
it is a Chaplin and that seems to be all that
is necessary.

„Proved to be the money-getter along Broadway“
Editorial content. „New York City
AS predicted in these columns last week
Charlie Chaplin‘s The Circus at the Strand proved to be the
money-getter along Broadway, grossing $81,206
for the first seven days, and doing more business over
the first week-end than the Strand does for a full
week on an average showing. The above gross is a record
for this theatre, being $6,000 more than the
customers paid to see Charlie in The Gold Rush. Nine
shows are being reeled off daily at regular prices,
and it is said that a four weeks‘ guarantee is in order.“
Strand Theatre, 1579 B‘way (at 47th St.), New York.
The Circus is released by United
Artists in New York January 6, 1928.
