Screen Comedians Buried
HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 30. (AP) – The world of make-believe
paid homage today to Mrs. Hannah Chaplin, mother of two great comedians.
Mrs. Chaplin was buried today in the city in which
her sons found fame, as she found it a score of years before
in England.
Charles Chaplin, her eldest son, and a few intimate friends
attended the funeral. Sydney Chaplin is in Europe.
Mrs. Chaplin taught her sons love of the theater, encouraged
their first efforts and applauded their first successes. When
the world war and Zeppelin raids on London had overpowered
her mind, her sons brought her to America.“
AP, Associated Press.
Sydney is Charlie Chaplin‘s elder half-brother.
