& CHARLIE CHAPLIN is making progress with his next picture,
„The Circus.“ Two or three hundred scenes have been
run thru the camera. Chaplin usually takes three or four thousand
scenes before he starts cutting his production.
The comedian is planning to produce another picture
with Edna Purviance un the stellar rôle. Joseph von Sternberg
will direct.

In „The Sea Gull“
Edna Purviance, star of Charlie Chaplin‘s famed photoplay,
„A Woman of Paris,“ after an absence from the screen
is once more back in the fold at the Chaplin studio playing
the featured role in „The Sea Gull,“ an original story;
a drama of modern California, written and directed by Josef
von Sternberg.
Preparations for Miss Purviance‘s second dramatic
vehicle have been going on for some time under
the guidance of von Sternberg and after a careful search
for new screen faces the following supporting cast
has been enageged: Raymond Bloomer, who will be seen
in the leading role opposite Miss Purviance; Eve
Sothern and Gayne Whitman.

Riza Royce Tired of Married Life After
Honeymoon in Europe
Los Angeles, Oct. 26.
Joseph Von Sternberg, film director, and his wife,
Riza Royce, film actress, have separated after four months
of a turbulent honeymoon.
The couple were married when Von Sternberg
finished the Edna Purviance picture for Charles Chaplin and
immediately went to Europe.
No sooner back in Hollywood two weeks ago, than
Mrs. Von Sternberg stated she had grown tired of married
life and left her husband, going to the DuPont Hotel.
She told her friends that she could not stand
a temperamental husband and that she would immediately
seek her freedom.

who used to play opposite Chaplin in Charlie‘s old comedies
and who hasn‘t been seen since A Woman of Paris?

A(nswer). She has just returned from an extended
vacation in Europe, and is soon to return to the screen in a
