guest of honor. (...)
Chaplin has completed an exploitation tie-up with the
Brunswick phonograph people which should be
effective for exhibitors. While completing the picture
he also took time to arrange the musical score
and to write several of the compositions. Two of these
he recently recorded for the Brunswick records,
playing the violin solo himself and conducting the Lyman
Cocoanut Grove orchestra at Los Angeles.
The compositions are entitled „Sing a Song“ and „With
You, Dear, in Bombay.“ These records will soon
be on sale by the company‘s dealers throughout the world.

„This violin being his hobby“
Editorial content. „CHAPLIN‘S VIOLIN DISK
Charlie Chaplin makes his debut as a phonograph
recording artist on the Brunswick label with
a violin solo, played as part of Abe Lyman‘s dance version
of With You Dear in Bombay, a new song written
and composed by the screen comedian. Chaplin is an
accomplished musician, this violin being his hobby.
It was through Abe Lyman‘s urging that Chaplin elaborated on
one of his many extempore themes for commercial
purposes, M. Witmark & Sons publishing the number which
will be tied up with Chaplin‘s The Gold Rush,
his forthcoming release.“
The Gold Rush opens June 26, 1925
at Grauman‘s Egyptian, 6712 Hollywood Bld., Los Angeles.
