Friends of Mrs. Chapin declare this to be an excellent

likeness. It was taken when she was 15 years old, just before

she put up her curls. She appears rather pensive,

doesn‘t she?

Angeles, Calif. – I found Mildred on one of the big stages

      „I didn‘t see him again for several weeks. I thought about

him, of course, but more as a regretful memory than

anything else. There was to be a grand fete on the Lasky lot

– a war benefit, I think. It was a brilliant affair.

We all had booths – Blanche Sweet and I had a flower

booth.

      The crowds were enormous. All the movie world was

there. I was selling some flowers, when I heard

somebody say, ,How much are the roses?‘ It was Charlie!
