„Giving the world something really new in the way of comedy“
Editorial content. „For Good?
BURY THE SLAPSTICK.
COMEDIANS SHOW CLEVERNESS
IN NEW METHODS.
By Grace Kingsley.
The slapstick is sheathed in its scabbard, or has been
cut into kindling wood; the custard pie has withdrawn
from art circles, and again takes its modest place on the pantry
shelf; and the padded pants, former working partners
of the boot, has found their way to the rubbish heap. If you
don‘t believe me, take a walk down Broadway
tomorrow, and peep in at the Garrick, where Charlie Chaplin
is giving the world something really new in the way
of comedy, not new to him only, but actually new in the line
of film fun.“ (...)
